Everyone has the desire to achieve and this is exemplified by our daily efforts towards using our talents and strengthening our weaknesses. And there’s no better time to begin doing so than the 31st of December when New Years resolutions are set. If you want to gain the most from a calendar year one of the best ways is by having clear intentions of accomplishing certain things. A new year is a time to do things differently or improve on things we were doing the previous year. Whatever the case is it is crucial to have a goal management scheme to help you throughout the year.
Take a piece of paper or chart and make a list of all your resolution. The next thing is creating a timeline that has particular goals for particular months. Writing down your goals puts your mind in the frame of achieving and clears away the blur that comes with intentions set in your mind alone. A chart is a constant remind of what needs to be done and it puts valuable pressure on you to perform.
Reduce your goals to smaller goals so that they’re easily digestible. Sometimes we don’t achieve our ambitions because they are too big when listed. If you want to improve your confidence try breaking your resolution into small bits like: talk to people more; maintain eye contact and learn not to look down. This is way different from a goal that’s merely listed as ‘improve self-confidence’. Therefore you can set out to accomplish your goals in projected periods of time depending on the smaller parts.
Immediately set out to achieve what you have listed down. You don’t have to wait until the 2nd of January to start working; the 1st is a very good starting point. Somehow you get the impression that you’re focused and determined. It is these feeling that motivate us to aspire for more of what we wish for.
Expose your resolutions to people you can trust. This includes close family and friends who will never be jealous of your success. It is people like these that remind us of our intentions in life so that we don’t lose focus. You will notice how such people will apply pressure on you to achieve, something that would have lacked if you had kept your resolutions to yourself.
The last thing is to start achieving your resolutions and ticking them on your list once you achieve them. I have personally noticed that ticking off goals boosts one’s sense of achievement. This is a sign of progress that will give you motivation to persist.
One of the best ways to achieve New Year’s resolutions is to stop all your nagging self talk from getting in the way.
