Self-hypnosis is a way of helping you achieve any goal you set yourself. It’s quite simple to learn and very easy to do. You just set your self a goal and then you just practice some simple steps, repeating them daily until you reach your goal.

The first and most crucial step you must take is to decide what your goal is. Remember the stronger your goal the better when practicing self-hypnosis.

Why should I set a goal you may ask? Well the answer to that is without a goal there is no point in practicing self-hypnosis. Self-hypnosis without a goal can just be called meditation. Meditation is fine and a very good thing to practice. but this article is about goals and how achieve them.

Now one of the the best ways to create a really strong goal is by using the S.M.A.R.T. system. So what do the letters S.M.A.R.T. stand for and could the system work for you? Well, S.= Specific; M.= Measurable; A.= Affect; R.= Realistic; T.= Time

Now suppose for example you wanted to lose some weight. This is how you might create a strong goal using the S.M.A.R.T. system

Specific: Firstly your goal has got to be specific.The more specific you are the easier it will be to achieve your goal with self-hypnosis. So be exact. For example “I will lose exactly 14 pounds off of my present weight.”

Measurable: what does measurable mean. Well when you set a goal you need to know when you have achieved it. So you could say “I will get on the scales on (add a date here) and they will show me I have lost x pounds exactly.”

Affect: your goal has got to have an affect on your life of some sort when you’ve achieved it. So you might say ” I will feel very proud and pleased with myself when I stand on the scales on the (add date) and see that I have lost exactly 14 pounds.”

Realistic: its crucial that you set an achievable realistic goal. For example “I know I can lose x pounds by the (date here) because the height/weight tables show me it’s possible.

Timed: You have got to set a date by when you want to achieve your goal. For example ” On the (set date) I will be exactly 14 pounds lighter and I will feel very very proud and pleased with myself.”
